The Sala VIP LATAM lounge in Bogota is pretty easily the nicest lounge at El Dorado international airport. Compared to the other lounges at BOG, the LATAM lounge has some solid amenities for those on longer layovers, decent food options, and a solid self serve bar section.

The one thing this lounge is really lacking in, however, is availability of premium seating. This is especially noticeable during peak hours when the small footprint of the lounge leads to over crowding, or when traveling in a group of more than two.

The space sits in Terminal 1 of BOG adjacent to gate A1 on top of a bank of shops and is more or less open air. That said, it can be a bit hard to find the elevator bank that will take you up to check in (They are located between two shops across from gate A1).

The LATAM Sala VIP acts as the business class lounge for LATAM flights and Delta flights leaving BOG airport. It’s important to note that while LATAM is a core partner of Delta, they are not in SkyTeam, as such SkyTeam Elite + members do not have access to this lounge unless they have another means of access. Full entry conditions below:

As mentioned, the lounge itself sits on top of an island of shops in and due to the lack of walls around much of the premium seating area and ceiling. Due to this, the portion of the lounge you’ll enter after checking in has an airy feel and makes the space feel bigger than it is. There are also rows of chairs under an overhang that are much darker if you’re looking for a space that isn’t so open, as well as cafeteria style dining chairs with tables adjacent to the main food area.

Finally, the restrooms and showers are located by walking through the main buffet area and following the hallway.

To start, there are two areas where you can get something to eat and drink, a main buffet area and a smaller counter in the main section of the lounge.

The food itself is pretty decent, so don’t be afraid to eat if you’re hungry. The chicken and potato skins were the best of the bunch in my opinion. The juice machine is a nice touch if you want to make a mimosa, and the self-serve ice cream fridge was a hit. Besides these you’ll find a few other small hot dishes, some small bites of bread to pair with charcuterie meats and cheeses, and a basket full of nuts and crackers

Also, I think it’s important to note that the catering in Delta One out of Bogota was pretty atrocious both times I’ve taken this route, so if you’re at all hungry and want more than just the snack basket.

The bar is European style, with wines and spirits on offer to self pour, and fridges full of beer, mixers and soda.

The larger of the bar areas that has all choices included can be found in front of the main buffet, with a secondary station located on the smaller food outpost consisting of wine and beer only.

Besides the two TVs the other main amenity is the shower. Reservations are first come first serve and can be made at the desk. When your shower is ready the check in agents will come escort you to the shower suites located near the restrooms in the back of the lounge

The showers themselves are clean and well appointed with anything you might need including a toothbrush, comb and a razor. There really is nothing like cleaning up before a flight, and I would not hesitate to recommend the showers in the LATAM Sala VIP to anyone who was interested in using them.

The LATAM Sala VIP lounge is a solid place to spend a few hours before your flight out of Bogota. The staff are all very friendly, the food is decent and there is a shower. If you have access for free this is easily the best lounge you’ll find at the airport.

That said, if you don’t have access to this lounge but do have access to another lounge for free you should check that out first and decide if you want to spring for the 60$ per person entry fee.
